Digitus, the brand of Assmann Electronic GmbH, has introduced three new products that transmit USB signals over long distances stably and without loss of quality - and now also over fibre optics. The models are designed for different application environments and cover a wide range of transmission distances and interfaces. The aim is to make USB peripherals usable even where a direct connection to the computer is not possible.


With the new USB extenders, Digitus offers solutions for various requirements: from shorter distances within a room to far-reaching installations across several buildings. The extenders are designed for reliable, interference-free signal transmission and enable the flexible use of USB peripherals regardless of their distance from the host system.

Two CAT extenders for short and medium distances
The USB 2.0 CAT Extender (DA-73120) transmits signals at up to 480 Mbit/s over distances of up to 150 metres using CAT 6 or higher quality network cables. Four USB-A ports ensure that multiple devices such as printers, scanners or input devices can be operated in parallel.

The USB 3.2 Gen 1 CAT Extender (DA-73121), on the other hand, achieves transfer rates of up to 5 Gbit/s over CAT 6A or higher-quality cables at a distance of up to 100 metres. It has three USB-A ports and one USB-C port, which makes it easier to connect modern peripheral devices.The power-over-cable function ensures that only the receiver side needs to be supplied with power.

Both CAT models can be installed without additional software and are suitable for both office environments and industrial applications.


Fibre optic extender for long ranges
The USB 3.2 Gen 1 fibre extender (DA-73122) uses LC multimode fibre optic cables to transmit signals at up to 5 Gbit/s over distances of up to 300 metres. Three USB-A and one USB-C port are available and support for USB 2.0 and USB 1.1 means that older devices can also be easily integrated.

The model has integrated ESD, surge and lightning protection and is therefore also suitable for demanding application scenarios, for example in large office complexes, industrial plants or security systems.
